Mangalore: Ullal appeared to be peaceful on Wednesday but turned violent after incidents of stabbing were reported in Ullal on Wednesday late night.

Two persons, an autorickshaw driver and another person suffered injuries in the scrimmage. Following the incident, the district administration continued Section 144 in Ullal police station limits. In fact, the police have taken 40 persons into custody as precautionary measures.

The shops were closed through out Ullal on Tuesday without any moments of vehicles. The problem stirred up on Monday when two groups clashed on Monday at Mogaveerapatna and Kotepura. Since then, minor incidents of violence is witnessed and have been reported from different parts of Ullal.

Deputy Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao, IGP A M Prasad, SP Sathish Kumar, ASP Lokesh Kumar and other officials visited the spot.

According to a press release, a peace meet has been planned at deputy commissioner's office on January 25 at 3 pm.

Additional forces have been deployed at Ullal. But the region still continues to be tense.
