Mangalore: The death centenary of Father Augustus Muller was observed on the 1st of November. On account of the death centenary a special mass was held in the St .Joseph Chapel at 8AM. This was followed by the laying of the foundation stone of the FMCON building, inaugural of the hi-tech laundry and inauguration of the Father Muller museum by the Bishop.
The programme began at 10.30am. The chief guest for the function was Mr. Seemanth Kumar Singh, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Mangalore. The Bishop of Diocese of Mangalore, Rev. Fr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza , the CMS of FMMC, Dr. Sanjeev Rai, administrator of FMMC, Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa, administrator of Father Muller Hospital Rev.Fr.Richard Coelho, assistant administrator Fr. Vincent Saldanha, Principle of Father Muller Nursing College Sr. Jacintha D’Souza were present on the dias.
Rev. Fr. Richard Coelho gave the welcome address. The Bishop garlanded the portrait of Rev. Fr. Augustus Muller, S.J. The chief guest unveiled the flex. Rev. Fr. Denis D’Sa introduced the chief guest. In his speech the chief guest gave a call to all the students to stand up to the expectations of Father Muller.
The presidential address was given by the Bishop of Mangalore. He said that Father Muller still lives amongst us through the committed service of the people of the hospital. The Bishop presented the memento to the chief guest. The vote of thanks was delivered by Sr. Jacintha D’Souza. The programme was concluded with a kannada song symbolizing the beauty and richness of culture of Karnataka in accordance with Kannada Rajyothsava.
May the legacy of Father Muller live on.
