Udupi 18th August 2009: The decennial celebrations of Udupi district minority forum was held on 15th August 2009 after noon at the Don Bosco Hall Udupi. The President of the forum Mr. Charles Amler presided over the function. Writer and human right activist Mr. Rajshekar was the chief guest. He said that it is immaterial who rules at the centre or state because ultimately who control the police, the goverment officials and judiciary is local communal forces.
He sighted several examples to this. V. Rev. Fr.Mathew Vas the vicar of Udupi commended the work of Udupi district minority forum specially in bringing in awareness about Govenment facilities for minorities.
Mr.Janab Yasin the president of Udupi district Muslim okkuta, Mr.Jochim Michel Pinto the president of Catholic Sabha central committee and Rev. Berty Ammanna Head of churches in Udupi of CSI were the guests.
Mr. G. Rajshekar released the special decennial issue of Samparka edited by Dr.Gerald Pinto. Janab Jalil Saheb was felicited for his social work. Initially Mr.Walter Pinto explained the work of Vedike in the last ten years. President Mr. Charles Ambler welcomed the gathering. Secretary Mr.Salauddin proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Rosy William Pinto compeered the programme.
