Mangalore 28th January 2009:The Women Association of Gurpur-Kaikamba Parish in Association with Samanvaya Mangalore had organized an awareness building training to its members at Gurpur parish hall on January 25, 2009.
Rev. Fr Paul Rego, the parish priest of Gurpur-Kaikamba parish inaugurated this seminar on Women Empowerment through Awareness of Women Issues and said, “Awareness is the first and important stage in Women Empowerment. Women problems and exploitation can be reduced or minimized if women are given right orientation at a right time”.
The director of Samanvaya and Mangalore diocesan Women Forum Rev. Dr Ronald Cutinha conducted the training through life events, stories, quotes and narration of incidents from Bible. The participatory approach in the training enabled participants to clear several doubts.
The president of Women Association of Gurpur-Kaikamba parish Vijaya D’Costa, the secretary Ida Cutinha, parish vice president Johnson Lobo and secretary Wilfred Pinto were on the dais. Leena Rodrigues welcomed, Winny Rodrigues proposed vote of thanks and Anitha Fernandes compeered. 46 women participated in this training.
