Mangalore 6th Aug: “Excessive use of water, industrialization and letting industrial waste to water, concretization, misuse of bore wells, population explosion, deforestation and lack of interest in desilting the river and rivulets are the main reasons for the depletion of potable water in the earth” said Rev. Dr Ronald Cutinha the director of Samanvaya.


An informative training on Role of Students in Water Conservation for the students of Capitanio D.Ed. College, Mangalore was organized by DIET, KUIDFC- KUDCEMP and Pilikula Science Centre, Mangalore on July 26, 2008 at DIET, Mangalore.


The eminent personalities who have carved a niche for the water literacy campaigns and issues, such as Magsesay award winner Dr Rajendra Singh of Rajastan, Dr Rain Water (Mekito Morepho) of Japan, Agriculturist Mr Shyamji Antala of Gujarath and Shri Padre of Kasaragod District were sited during the programme.


50 students present, resolved to work for water conservation by spreading water literacy, limited use of water and making percolation pits in their house cites.
